I arrived in the morning when the hotel doors were locked. I had to ask a guest to let me in so I could store my bags until I could check in. The staff, mostly European, were very accommodating and friendly, and they remembered my name. I got plenty of exercise walking up and down the stairs to my room on the third floor. I ate dinner in the on site restaurant most of the 7 days of my stay, and it was quite good.

I had asked for early checkin as I had arrived in the morning after a 27 hour flight but they couldnt tell me details in advance because I was going to be in transit the day before. I arrived to find a letter on the door addressed to me and explaining they had sent me an email on how to access the key and also how to find internet to find the email! All the staff have been equally lovely.

Loved our night at The Shakespeare. Great staff. Comfortable room...loads of character. Going to stay again next week too. If your after 5 star accommodation, you'll probably whinge about the place (oh no, it has stairs boohoo) but for comfort, affordable price, and a night in the CBD this place is awesome! Easy overnight parking just up the road at Atrium carpark too. Perfect!

The hotel had a really cool vibe to it and the food was lovely! Staff were extremely kind and welcoming and would stop to have a chat with you and see how you were doing which was really nice to see. Location is perfect if you visiting Auckland as you are in the centre and a lot of attractions are very short walking distance. We didn’t have to get a taxi anywhere!

The staff were very kind enough to carry my luggage to my room or tell me where to go shopping light meal and so on. I'm not good at speaking in English, so I guess it was so hard for them to understand what I meant, but they were so patient and tried to understand. I appreciate it so much. I definitely will stay at this hotel when I can visit Auckland again.
